Cotton has been produced in India for many years and has been a total hit since. Renowned for its lowkey elegance and extreme mellow fabric, the biggest misconception about cotton is that it is made only for daily wear. It is not true since cotton sarees are also available in beautiful colors, designs, and different and attractive patterns. Its lightweight feel on the body makes it a total treasure.

History:
The Indian subcontinent is the abode for the production of cotton. For 5000 years the skill of weaving and dyeing cotton was perceived in India. In India, people love to wear cotton clothes. Women and housewives wear cotton sarees on a daily basis. Thus, this also keeps up with the culture and also provides comfort to the ladies. Cotton sarees and cotton apparel is a mother's first choice for her family. Therefore it is a go-to fabric for many. Every state in India has its own time-honored and different cotton-weaving technique and also has its own aboriginal area of expertise in cotton fabric production. There are different weaving textures and techniques that give astounding results, making us love it all.

Different types of cotton sarees:
Gadwal: Gadwal cotton originates from the western part of India. It is known for its zari and embroidery border work on neutral and basic colored sarees. Initially, Gadwal cotton sarees were available only in neutral and basic colors, now bright shades are also available.
Kota Dari: Kota Dari cotton sarees originate from Rajasthan. These are woven in a multi-gauge yarn to create a checkered look. Kota dari cotton sarees are lightweight and transparent with border work. Kota dari cotton sarees are made in and around the Kota city of Rajasthan state and are therefore highly prized and expensive.
Jamdani: Jamdani cotton saree originates from Uttar Pradesh and also from Bangladesh. They are available in floral and striped designs. A lot of labor is required to make a jamdani saree, therefore it is expensive.
Sambalpuri cotton: As the name suggests, sambalpuri cotton saree originates from Sambalpur, Orissa. A sambalpuri cotton saree is made by first dyeing. Then it is styled with contrast colors, geometric patterns, and motifs. Sambalpuri cotton saree is handwoven and therefore is fairly expensive.
Khadi: Khadi is the most traditional subordinate of cotton sarees. Conventionally khadi was hand spun using cotton yarns only. Now, it is woven or hand-loomed. It is woven in a particular way so therefore it allows air to pass making it an ideal choice for summers.

Different occasions to flaunt your cotton saree:
With the comfort and texture that cotton sarees have, they are widely worn on a daily basis. Other than that, a cotton saree is the most preferred choice in summers. Styling a cotton saree:
Cotton sarees look beautiful in a simple way too. If the cotton saree is plain with only borders, we can experiment phenomenally with the saree blouse. We can also accessorize it by wearing necklaces, earrings, bangles, and metallic jewellery. Stone studded pendant necklaces ace the cotton saree look.
