Tussar silk is one of the finest types of silk varieties available in India. Currently, India is the second-largest producer of tussar silk. It goes by many names. People from different parts of India call it tusaar, tusser, tushar, tusa, tassore, and  tasar etc. Tussar silk is known worldwide today and is one of the best handloom silks in the world.

It is also known as kosa silk. Tussar silk is also used in soaps. Such soaps generally have a luxurious feel to them and are very smooth in texture. It is used in making apparel, furnishing fabrics, and handicrafts.

The sarees are stylish and also have a modern touch. One would truly look elegant and graceful. 

History

Indian tussar silk originated from the state of west bengal. It’s also known as tropical tussar. It is majorly produced in Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh. Currently Jharkhand is one of the largest producers. Globally it is produced in China, Srilanka and Bangladesh. Today, Tussar silk is being produced all over India because of technological innovations.

It’s Speciality

It is derived from moths which are found in forests and hence are also known as wild silk. Tussar silk is known for its rich look. It has a beautiful texture that exudes elegance. The fabric would make us look like a royal. Tusar stands out because of its porous fabric.

The fabric is lustrous and quite appealing. Tussar silk material is quite valuable. There are many types of varieties of Tussar silk. Tussar silk can be worn in summers as the fabric is comfortable and light.  

Production

The silk is produced from the larvae of various silk worn. The silk yarns are then made into beautiful silk pieces. The silk is very fine in texture and  The silk is extracted from the cocoon of silk moths. The process is time-consuming and has to be done with care. The tussar silk fabrics are then dyed and further processed to be used in various products.
